We are finally pregnant!
We have been trying for what appears like forever (to me) but in reality it has actually only been four months. I stopped taking the pill at the beginning of April and we got pregnant at the end of July. Off course I didn’t know this till the middle of August by which time, being a control freak I had already started harassing my husband and become a general miserable nuisance.
I am used to planning things and having them generally go to plan – the pregnancy thing has been a little different. For one thing the first month I was assuming my cycle was normal (it’s a little short, 26 days), then second month I assumed I was fertile on day fourteen of my cycle (it fourteen days from when you think your next period is due, so for me it would be day twelve which was the day my husband had to be at an overnight board meeting!), the third month we were out the night we should have been at home. We finally got it together in the fourth month; we were on it that week.
So early this week I missed my period – felt like it was coming though. Usual symptoms, bloated, felt crappy and tired. I tried not to get my hopes up though I had done a test three days before I was due to have my period that was negative. However, as I am always on time I had my fingers (and toes) crossed. Waited three days then did the test again – didn’t tell my husband I was doing the test (I’d done loads before that weren’t saying much) and did it as I was having my early morning wee. I told Mr Doright quite calmly (mainly because I still don’t believe it myself!)
Happy but still not believing it!
